I've installed Matlab 6.1 on Athena. To run it now:
add matlab
matlab -ver 6.1.0 &
This release incorporates some enhancements over 6.0 and many bug
fixes.
You can read about new features by typing "whatsnew" at the Matlab >> prompt.
In configuring this release, we have reverted to the Java Desktop as the
default interface (this was not the case for Matlab 6.0), because almost
all the problems we had experienced with the Desktop in release 6.0 seem
to have been fixed. For a list of optional command-line parameters start
Matlab with the "-h" command-line option.
If you use the Matlab compiler (in any Matlab release) on Suns, you
will most likely get many warning messages- this is because we are
using a newer, stricter set of Solaris compilers than the compilers
used by the Mathworks during development. For the most part these
messages should be harmless.
This version may become the Athena default version for the Fall, 2001
semester, contingent on testing to be done over the next few weeks. Please
let us know if you encounter significant problems or bugs by writing to
the 3partysw@mit.edu mailing list.
