I've upgraded the default version of XEphem on Athena for Solaris and
Linux to XEphem 3.4. It has a slew of new features and is generally
much nicer than older versions.
For those unfamiliar with it, XEphem is a piece of astronomy software
with sky views, Earth and other planet views, satellite tracking
etc. To run it type:
add xephem
xephem &
The old version can be run as:
xephem 3.1
I've also created the public mailing list xephem-users which will
receive updates about the configuration, such as star catalogs added
etc. Feel free to add yourself.
If you commonly use XEphem on a platform other than Solaris or Linux
and would like to use version 3.4 let me know.
