I've installed Matlab 7.14 (R2012a) on Athena. From my message to users:

Matlab 7.14 has been installed (they also call it R2012a). Many of the
Toolboxes have been updated (use Matlab "ver"command for versions). As
before, the lpsolve linear programming solver and Maple Toolbox have
been added to the locker.

lpsolve documentation is at:

https://web.mit.edu/matlab_v7.14/distrib/toolbox/contrib/lpsolve/MATLAB.htm

A new set of emacs modes is available in the newemacs/matlab-emacs
subdirectory; see
https://web.mit.edu/matlab_v7.14/newemacs/www/index.shtml
for information.

Release notes are available in the internal help system, or at the
Mathworks Web site:

http://www.mathworks.com/help/base/relnotes/index.html
http://www.mathworks.com/products/matlab/whatsnew.html

To run 7.14 now:

        add matlab
        matlab -ver 7.14

We intend to make it the default after the end of the current term.

Please let us know if you encounter significant problems or bugs by
writing to the 3partysw@mit.edu mailing list.

PLEASE NOTE THAT AS PER THE MATHWORKS SOFTWARE ROADMAP, R2012a WILL BE
THE LAST MATLAB RELEASE FOR 32 BIT LINUX SYSTEMS.

                                      Alex
