I've installed Mathematica 8.0.1 on Athena. From my message to users:
Mathematica 8.0.1 has been installed on Athena. You can run it now by
typing "add math", followed by:
mathematica -ver 8.0.1 & (for the GUI interface)
math -ver 8.0.1 (for the command-line interface)
This release incorporates many bug fixes and a new plugin for the
computable data format (CDF). unfortunately detailed release notes
don't seem to currently be available.
We plan to make it (or a newer release) the default after the end of
the current semester.
