I've updated Matlab on Athena to 7.10 (R2010a). From my message to users:

Matlab 7.10 has been installed on Athena (they also call it
R2010a). Many of the Toolboxes have been updated (use Matlab "ver"
command for versions). The Genetic Algorithm and Direct Search Toolbox has
been renamed Global Optimization Toolbox. As before, the lpsolve linear
programming solver has been added to the locker.

lpsolve documentation is at:

https://web.mit.edu/matlab_v7.10/distrib/toolbox/contrib/lpsolve/MATLAB.htm

Release notes are available in the internal help system, or at the
Mathworks Web site:

http://www.mathworks.com/access/helpdesk/help/base/relnotes/
http://www.mathworks.com/products/matlab/whatsnew.html

To run it now:

        add matlab
        matlab -ver 7.10

It will not be made the default version until after the end of the current
semester. This release will not run on Athena 9 machines.

Please let us know if you encounter significant problems or bugs by
writing to the 3partysw@mit.edu mailing list.

                                         Alex
