Tcl/Tk 8.1 is now available in the tcl locker for the Linux
(i386_linux2, i386_linux3), NetBSD, Solaris, and SGI platforms. It is
currently accessible via the binaries tclsh8.1 and wish8.1; after the
release tomorrow morning, it will be the default version invoked by
tclsh and wish.
As a minor version increment, this release of Tcl/Tk does not
intentionally introduce any incompatibilities. The major new features
of 8.1 are, according to www.scriptics.com:
* Thread-safety
* Internationalization (Unicode)
* Expanded regular expression package
* Improved extension architecture
* Send/DDE support, configuration options, more Tcl_Obj support, etc.
Bug reports should go to bug-tcl@mit.edu.
