I've updated the SAS statistical analysis system on Athena to 9.2 for Linux.
This represents the first time SAS has been available on Athena for Linux
machines, as well as a switch from Sun to Linux as the supported platform.
To run it:
add sas
sas
From my message to users:
SAS now runs on Linux machines and all users are urged to switch to
that platform as soon as possible. An overlap period, during which
Linux SAS 9.2 and Sun SAS 9.1.3 will both be available will extend
until 10/1/08, after which only the Linux version will continue.
One issue you need to be aware of is that SAS data sets are
platform-dependent, and you will need to convert your data sets from
Sun format to Linux format. SAS tech support informs us that such
conversions are generally straightforward, with utilities available to
assist with the conversion, however the amount of effort can depend on
the nature and (obviously) the quantity of your data. More information
about this is at http://web.mit.edu/sas/www/to-linux
