The installation of xmcd in the sipb locker has been updated to
release 2.4, and is available for Linux, NetBSD, and Solaris platforms.
This is the version of the xmcd that has previously been available in
the outland locker as xmcd-beta. This version of xmcd fully supports
the EIDE CDROM drives present in the Sun Ultra 10's and Ultra 5's,
whereas the previous version did not.
It will continue to be available in the outland locker for at
least another week, at which point xmcd-beta will be replaced with a
script to inform users that xmcd-beta has moved and is now available in
the sipb locker.
To run the new release of xmcd, type:
add sipb
xmcd &
Documentation is available in the form of a man page:
add sipb
man xmcd
The previous version of xmcd is still available in the sipb
locker, and can be run as xmcd.old, in case any problems are
discovered. Please report any bug or problems to bug-sipb@mit.edu.
