Alpine 1.00 has been installed the alpine locker for RHEL, Debathena, and=
=20
Solaris.
Alpine is a fast, easy to use text-based email client. It is the=20
successor to Pine (which is encumbered by trademark and license=20
restrictions and has been unmaintained since 2006); it is being developed=
=20
by the same team at UW, and is upwards-compatible. It also includes new=20
features, such as correct handling of multiple character sets. For more=20
information, see <http://www.washington.edu/alpine/>.
=EF=BB=BFThis installation includes patches ported from Athena Pine to inte=
grate it=20
with the obsolete Kerberos IV authentication required by MIT=E2=80=99s PO s=
ervers.=20
Alpine will use the system pine.conf and your existing ~/.pinerc file (it=
=20
should not disturb your Pine configuration if you switch back and forth,=20
but make backups if you are worried).
I would appreciate hearing about any issues, especially since the=20
Debathena team is planning to provide Alpine as a default replacement for=
=20
Pine.
