megaGET 0.21, a general purpose file upload/download utility, is now
installed in the outland locker.
It's a little fragile, since the source isn't available, and I had to
make symlinks for libssl.so.5 and libcrypto.so.5.
megaGET is available from http://www.redswoosh.net/megaget/, where you
can also get a Windows version.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
From an e-mail announcing its release:
megaGET uses a NAT/firewall penetration layer to simply copy files
from one computer to another. That might sound pretty unexciting on
its face, but for some reason I always find myself:
* Screwing around with wacky firewall settings or NAT port
forwarding
* Tweaking out Windows File Sharing until it works..
* Creating a new Unix account or public key...
* Wishing I had a USB thumbdrive...
* ...all to just copy a file from one computer to another.
In all these cases, what should be the easiest thing in the world
becomes a huge tedious pain.
Enter megaGET, the file transfer utility that "just works". Seamless
NAT and firewall penetration, cross platform compatibility, SHA1 hash
verification -- all you need to copy a file, and nothing more.
