The SIPB Debian-Athena team is pleased to announce the release of
Debian-Athena packages for the i386 and amd64 architectures on Debian
sarge, Debian etch, Ubuntu dapper, Ubuntu edgy, and Ubuntu feisty.
Debian-Athena provides packages for nearly all Athena-specific software,
along with packages to configure software in Debian to use Athena
services. Debian-Athena includes a system of meta-packages in which
users can select the level of Athena compatability they want on their
machine, varying from installing only a few specific Athena clients to
an integrated Kerberos/AFS login environment. Debian-Athena has been
carefully designed so that its packages comply with Debian policy as
much as possible while providing an Athena-like experience.
We have moved our website and APT repository to use shorter URLs based
off of <http://debathena.mit.edu/> (hosted on scripts.mit.edu). We have
changed the repository structure, so you will need to change your
sources.list file beyond changing the repository URL and release name.

If you are upgrading from the old sarge-only packages, you will probably
find that "aptitude dist-upgrade" is the most effective mechanism for
upgrading from the old packages to the new ones ("apt-get" will
sometimes incorrectly hold back certain packages).
If you have already upgraded to the new release using the "apt-new" beta
version of the new repository, we recommend that you change your
sources.list file to use the new debathena.mit.edu URL.
