Mosaic 2.4 is currently built (though not debugged :-)
How to run:
add outland
Mosaic-2.4 &
Platforms:
Mosaic2.4 is built for the decs, IBM's, and Suns. It will
soon be built for linux (without HDF support).
Changes:
Motif 1.2 - This may not be a feature.
X11r5 - To go with Motif1.2
XVclient is now run instead of XV. XVclient will overwrite the
currently displayed picture with whatever new picture
was just received. This speeds up the viewing of pictures
somewhat (though jpeg are still rather slow).
IF you don't want this, before you run Mosaic-2.4,
setenv XFILESEARCHPATH /mit/sipb/lib/%T/%N
you might also want to send mail to complain, just in
case you think this is a really dumb feature that shouldn't
be supported.
PEM/PGP support - you need to have binaries for pgp (try the locker)
several bug fixes (see the About Mosaic2.3 page)
Forms are somewhat extended.
DTM - it might work.. no-body seems
to know how to test it :-)
HDF/NetCDF - You can view those rare HDF documents.
Bugs:
Well, see the list of known bugs in About Mosaic under Help
also, Motif1.2 might have introduced some new bugs.
send mail to bug-outland to report them.
The next pieces of mail (sent only to bug-outland) will detail
the patches applied.
