I have installed a newer version (2.6) of the Rasmol molecular imaging
utility on Athena and made it the default (what you get by doing "add
rasmol; rasmol"). The older 2.5 version is still around; you can run it
by doing "add rasmol; rasmol -ver 2.5".
Rasmol generates 3d images of small and medium-sized molecules that can be
manipulated, rotated and displayed in various ways. It reads molecular
structure description files in a variety of standard formats. Sun, SGI
and Linux/NetBSD versions are available.
There is internal online help, various READMEs and online documentation files
(look in /mit/rasmol_v2.6 and /mit/rasmol_v2.6/doc directories), and local
html documentation (see file /mit/rasmol_v2.6/www/rasmol.html.
