I've installed Jmol (standalone) on Athena for Sun and Linux. Jmol is
a 3d molecular image file viewer written in Java that can read a
variety of molecular description file formats. Jmol can be integrated
as a component into othe Java applications. It can also export
snapshot images directly, and render images using the Pov-ray renderer.
Jmol can be run as a standalone Java application (as installed in the Athena
locker) but also as a Java applet, requiring nothing more than a Java-enabled
browser. There is online help, and the "Demonstration pages" link from the
author site at http://jmol.sourceforge.net will give a good idea of what it
can do.
To run it as a standalone application:
add jmol
jmol
