After far too many months of development and procrastination,
linux-dev@mit.edu is pleased to announce the release of Red Hat-Athena
4.2.

To install Red Hat-Athena 4.2, follow the directions in "Installing
Red Hat-Athena Linux on MITnet", available online as
<http://web.mit.edu/linux/redhat/linux-net-install-html/rh-net-install.html>
and <http://web.mit.edu/linux/redhat/linux-net-install.ps>, and on
paper in the SIPB office (W20-557). Note that our reorganization of
the Athena packages unfortunately makes upgrading from previous
releases nontrivial; we apologize for the inconvenience.

Please note that the recommended way to enable remote access to your
machine is to run
	echo /usr/athena/bin/access_on >> /etc/athena/reactivate.local
(This came up a lot among beta testers.)

To report bugs in this release, run sendbug on your machine.

Enjoy!

New features:
-------------

Reorganized Athena packages, with support for running almost all
Athena software directly out of AFS (to save disk space.)

A TeX/Metafont installation almost exactly like Athena's.

Transcript (the PostScript-manipulation programs installed on Athena)

New/improved versions of the kernel, XFree86, Emacs, AFS, and more.

Other stuff I'm probably forgetting.
