I have installed a new Maple R4 release (R4.h) in the maple_v5r4 locker and
need some "friendly testers" to check it out before releasing it to the
general Athena user community.
The main feature of this release is the Linux version, although there are a
number of bug fixes to other UNIX platforms also; the Sun and SGI binaries
have been updated.
Please help test this release if you use Maple; you will need to be able
to su to root on the machine you are on (or otherwise attach a ".athena" AFS
volume below /mit/maple_v5r4); to run it for now, first
detach any Maple lockers you may have attached and then do:
add maple_v5r4, then su to root, followed by:
rm /mit/maple_v5r4
ln -s /afs/.athena.mit.edu/software/maple_v5r4 /mit/maple_v5r4
(you can exit from being root after this step).
Now start Maple, either by typing "maple", or "maple.tty". On Linux
you will see the following error message in the UNIX launch window:
Warning:
Name: menuitem
Class: XmToggleButtonGadget
Illegal mnemonic character; Could not convert X KEYSYM to a keycode
This is harmless and probably unavoidable. Please report any other problems
you run into directly to me.
Thanks,
Alex Prengel
