I've updated octave on Athena (similar to Matlab) and added the octave-forge
add-ons. to run it: add octave; octave.
From my message to users:
You are running a newly installed Octave release (2.1.71) with octave-forge
add-ons (2005.06.13), maintained by Academic Computing. This was done by
request of the former octave locker maintainer, who has left MIT.
For documentation, see:
http://web.mit.edu/octave_v2.1.71/doc/octave/octave_toc.html
http://web.mit.edu/octave_v2.1.71/doc/liboctave/liboctave_toc.html

or type help at the Octave > prompt.
The old release is being renamed, and you should still be able to run
it by typing:
add octave.old
octave
