I've updated Matlab on Athena to 7.0.4. From my message to users:
Matlab 7.0.4 has been installed on Athena (they also call it R14 Service
pack 2). Many of the Toolboxes have been updated (use Matlab "ver"
command for versions),
Release notes are available in the internal help system, or at the
Mathworks Web site:

To run it now:
add matlab
matlab -ver 7.0.4
It will not be made the default version until after the end of the current
semester.
Also, Macintosh and Windows Matlab is now available for free download
for installation on machines personally owned by students. See
https://matlab.mit.edu for information (MIT certificate required for
access).
