I've installed Grace on Athena. Grace is a 2d mathematical plotting tool
with an internal plot description language. Grace has quite a few nice
features, including the ability to output directly to pdf via a helper
library.
To run it:
add grace
xmgrace
There is an internal manual which explains how to use it.
