VRweb version 1.3 alpha 1 has been installed in the outland locker for
Linux, NetBSD, Irix, Solaris, SunOS, and HPUX. VRweb is a VRML scene viewer
that can also interface with your web browser to allow you browse VRML worlds
on the web.
To run the Scene viewer, add outland; vrweb. To use VRweb with your web
browser, you must add a line to the file ~/.mailcap:
For Netscape:
x-world/x-vrml; vrweb -URL %u %s &;
For NCSA Mosaic:
x-world/x-vrml; vrweb -mosaic %s &;
(Note that this assumes that you have previously added outland, so that
vrweb can be found.) This version has _tons_ of wonderful new features
over the previously installed version, notably:
* Textures
* AsciiText/FontStyle support
* automatic normal vector generation
* optional BSP rendering mode (by G. Meszaros)
depth sorted polygons, 3 variations
Warning: vrweb will add a symlink from .vrweb in your home directory for
support files. That will use a very negligible amount of your disk space,
but I'm warning you anyways.
Enjoy!
