Thanks to some conspiring with kretch, I've recently managed
to build an AFS module for NetBSD that supports and defaults to using
encryption whenever possible (which seems to be "whenever one has
tokens"). I'm testing it on a few machines and have asked other people
to do so as well, since the encryption codebase is allegedly not
tested by Transarc.
The code seems to do encryption when talking to the currently
deployed servers (athena cell, sipb cell, dev cell), so this might
mean that it's causing use of an untested codebase on the servers as
well. I don't know of any specific reason why this would be likely to
cause problems, but as AFS is a subtle beast, I'm sending this
heads-up in case anyone observes more-bizzare-than-usual behaviour in
the AFS servers.
