We are now more than a month into FY98 and I expect that I will be
asked for and estimate of what server hardware SIPB would like to buy
this fiscal year. Since the SIPB's server hardware is bought from the
same budget as ASO's it is fairly important that some sort of estimate
exists. At least at this point* it doesn't have to be very specific.
(For now the specificity needed is something like "a machine to
replace foo.mit.edu $N000, 2 more 4G disks for AFS $N00 each"
Obiviously those are just examples. As was the case last year a
combination of needs and wants and which category each falls in is
probably best. It'd be nice if something preliminary could exist in a
few weeks to a month. Questions?
