People who have tried to do the backup in the last few weeks
may have noticed that they some times get the following message:
backup: interface incompatible.
This normally happens when you execute the dumpinfo command. I
believe that whenever the client goes to ra or rc you get this
message; this was determined by playing with CellServDB, restarting
buservers on different machines and watching with tcpdump. The
playing with CellServDB didn't actually work because the backup client
doesn't actually work unless the sync site is up.
I asked Greg to obtain a new SunOS binary to make sure we had
the right version of the SunOS server. Unfortunately, the AFS 3.4A
binaries are no longer available; the current version is a patch to
3.4A. In addition, Ultrix has been desupported. So, we can either
choose to run different versions on rb than on ra and rc, which may
work, or keep the current situation which doesn't work. Unless I hear
objections, I will attempt to get the servers interacting
successfully.
