I received the stacking kits for the new AFS disks today, and
installed the disks on sipb-server-1. I also got a srvtab for
sipb-server-1 (courtesy of Jonathon); this was a little inconvenient
because the kerberos_master service is missing from our /etc/services
file.
Before today, sipb-server-1 had been logging a lot of SCSI errors,
which I initially attributed to not having terminated external SCSI
chains. With the disks installed, there was an anomaly at boot time;
we got the messages:
esp0 at SBus slot 5 0x8800000 pri 4 (onboard)
sd0 at esp0 target 3 lun 0
sd0: <SUN1.05 cyl 2036 alt 2 hd 14 sec 72>
esp0: SCSI bus MESSAGE OUT phase parity error
esp0: SCSI bus MESSAGE OUT phase parity
and it didn't find sd1 and sd3 at boot time. It did detect sd1 and
sd3 after I logged in as root, when I ran the "format" command to see
what disks I could talk about.
I haven't seen any errors logged on the console since then, so I think
for the moment I will just be on the lookout for more SCSI chain
problems.
