I finished transferring the data from the bad disk to the spare and
brought rc back up. In order to economize on copying time, the spare
disk is labelled as a Micropolis disk, even though it's actually a
Seagate disk with a different geometry. This shouldn't have any ill
effects, and will make it easy to copy the data onto the replacement
disk when it arrives.
The bad disk is currently sitting next to hodge, looking suspiciously
like one of the empty enclosures which are also next to hodge.
Arguably, it should be wiped, but I'm not going to take care of that.
Matt Braun suggested that I should let someone else take care of
getting a swap disk for the bad disk (presumably to wean SIPB off of
me handling all of its hardware issues), so I'll wait and let someone
else deal with that. Whoever takes care of it will almost certainly
need to ask me for information.
