I've asked Jane to get through an order for two APC SmartUPS 1400s,
which are the kind ASO has been using. They're $640 each, coming out
of the ASO budget. My understanding is that two of them should handle
the load on 18.181, so we can use them to replace both the dead and
the non-dead Emerson UPSs.

As long as I'm dumping a message into every SIPB maintainer list
archive, some general status information.

Remaining orders to take care of:

	* Four 2GB disks for beacon and a 4GB disk for picayune.
(Waiting on a corrected price quote from Falcon so I can
finish the paperwork for an order over $2500.) I've
requested Fujitsu disks for these, as an experiment to see
if they seem to be more reliable than our current mix.

	* Two Sun SCSI controllers for beacon and a dual-SCSI bus
Sparc 5 to be the AFS server that replaces ronald-ann (need
to find out how ASO generaly does this, and then probably go
	  through the MCC).

	* Four 4GB disks for the Sparc 5. (I was planning to wait
until closer to December, since disks usually arrive pretty
	  quickly.)

Financial plans: we seem to have consensus on AFS (we need one 16GB
AFS server to replace ronald-ann; we wouldn't mind having another to
replace rosebud), and some consensus on news (we need pretty much what
we're buying now). No progress has been made on RTFM or WWW.
