I shipped the DLT drive to Falcon on Tuesday (via DLH). They were
able to get it working again and are going to ship it back to us
shortly.
Unfortunately, when I shipped it to Falcon, the box I used was too
small and there wasn't enough packing material in there, so the drive
got a little banged up. They said it isn't too bad, just a bent
corner of the case. I apologize profusely; I won't make that mistake
again.
Regarding the initial failure: they said there should not be a tape in
the drive when it is turned off or turned on or when the machine is
rebooted. They said that was probably caused it to fail in the first
place. (I don't know if that actually happened or not.)
