Mycroft looked at the DLT drive last night. He opened it, and
found a large quantity of dust. The office vacuum was applied and
there is now less dust. However, the drive is still disfunctional.
When power is appied, the drive tends to think there is a tape
in the drve, although this is not the case. The drive tends to try
and load/unload this non-existent tape, but obviously fails. Mycroft
wasn't sure why the drive thought it had a tape.
I think the DLT is currently not in bill's SCSI chain, and
it's probably reasonable to leave it in this state. Someone who knows
how to get service for this drive should probably deal or tell the
rest of us how to deal.
Are there any objections to doing a backup of AFS onto the
Exabyte this week?
