Hello,
You are receiving this email because you are associated with machines that =
are actively backing up to Spectrum Protect (TSM). Due to constraints on da=
tacenter space, IS&T is retiring the TSM service. Preparations are being ma=
de to launch a new backup service with a charge-back cost model.
The service is Rubrik NAS-CD<https://www.rubrik.com/solutions/nas> on Amazo=
n S3 Glacier Deep Archive<https://aws.amazon.com/s3/storage-classes/glacier=
/>. It has two charge-back components: a monthly backup/store component and=
a variable as-used restore component.
Backup/store cost: $7.90/TB/month
Restore cost (estimate): $38/TB
Unfortunately, this pricing is only valid until January 2027 when we expect=
backup prices to significantly increase. We expect the worst case to be as=
much as 10x. We are also evaluating a potential CrashPlan solution.
Please let me know ASAP if you are interested in Rubrik or CrashPlan, so I =
can give better pricing updates. Let me know by August 20, 2026 if you are =
committed to moving to Rubrik or have selected another solution. We will th=
en establish a plan and timeline to migrate you off of TSM. You do not need=
to complete the migration by the mentioned date. However, if I do not hear=
from you by the mentioned date, your backups may be removed from TSM witho=
ut further warning.
