Here are teh restart times for the machines in the cell, did we choose
these, or did we just end up with them?
the-other-woman:~: bos getrestart rosebud -no
Server rosebud restarts at
Server rosebud restarts for new binaries at
the-other-woman:~: bos getrestart rosebud2 -no
Server rosebud2 restarts at sun 4:00 am
Server rosebud2 restarts for new binaries at 5:00 am
the-other-woman:~: bos getrestart ronald-ann2 -no
Server ronald-ann2 restarts at sun 4:00 am
Server ronald-ann2 restarts for new binaries at 5:00 am
I think rosebud should restart at the same time as teh other servers.
What do people think of changing the the restart time son all 3
servers to Sun 6AM (so the sipb cell restarts at the same time as teh
athena cell)? What about never restarting for new binaries?
Fileserver icncantation:
Currently the fileserver process is restarted with the incantation:
Command 1 is '/usr/afs/bin/fileserver'
the Athena cell uses:
Command 1 is '/usr/afs/bin/fileserver -L -rxpck 500 -p 16 -b 300'
I propose that we add at lease the -L option to give us:
Command 1 is '/usr/afs/bin/fileserver -L' This option is for
'L'arge sites, and it causes the fileserver to allocate a few more
resources. Since we are running dedicated AFS servers this shoudln't
be a problem. (The other options Athena uses up certain resources
even more.) Athena Has added various of these options, as the servers
have become overly hosed in the past 1-2 years. I would like to try
to prevent similar hosure from occuring in the SIPB cell by upping
some of these resources, before there is a problem. Thoughts?
