I am having a very difficult time installing my new version of
OS/2 v.3. I have heard that it can be difficult to install, and I also
read this same comment at your website. Apparently, there is no current,
valid cd-rom driver for my system on the original os/2 disks. I do not
have one of the brands listed in the manual as being especially
difficult. It is a Matushita, and in windows I find the driver as
msc0001, file name cdmke.sys. I have tried to artificially copy this
driver to the installation disks, and have altered the config.sys files
on them. Throughout this process I have had a pretty good sense of what
was being done, but I could have made a mistake or two. I also created
new disks using the program cd from the DOS platform. Still, no luck.
Need I really contact the manufacturer of the drive, or is there a way
around this? I understand you guys get a lot of mail, and certainly are
not responsible for my problems. However, if the solution is simple and
quick enough for you to expain it, please do so. I thank you for your
time. Maybe one day, I can answer similar questions here in Arizona so
more people don't bug you about it.
