New York Times Article Regarding OS/2
August 1, 1995

In today's edition of The New York Times, there was an article that
misinterpreted statements regarding OS/2 I had made at a meeting with
securities analysts yesterday.

My statements were regarding the fact that OS/2 is the market leader in
enterprise and commercial accounts and that IBM's primary OS/2 focus is
to maintain that leadership. The consumer and stand-alone desktop
markets for OS/2 are growing but are secondary to our emphasis on robust
line-of-business client/server applications for our enterprise
customers.

OS/2 is one of the cornerstones of the IBM software strategy. We
 remain committed to its success.

Louis V. Gerstner, Jr.
