The M.I.T. OS/2 Users Group needs another plant inside the development
team of DCNS. Chris Shabsin has done geat work during his time there,
but with his upcoming graduation, we need someone to step up and take
his place. If you are interested in development for DOS/Windows and
UNIX, and advocating OS/2 to people who can make a difference, please

We are accepting applications for a number of summer95 UROP positions
with DCNS, developing and supporting network services for the MIT
community. All summer positions are full time (35-40 hours per week).
To be considered in our first round of applicants for summer 95 UROPs
your application should be sent to dapps-urop-req@mit.edu by midnight
Sunday 7 May 95. We will make our decision and notify first round
applicants by Monday 15 May 95.
We're looking for students with proven software development experience
who learn quickly, are self motivated, work well as part of a team, and
have a desire to improve MIT's computing environment. We look for
students with any the following: C or Pascal programming experience, DOS
or Windows applications development experience, Macintosh applications
development experience, UNIX (especially Athena and X windows)
applications development experience, familiarity with MacOS, DOS, UNIX,
or Athena system internals, or knowledge of TCP/IP or AppleTalk networks
and protocols. Responsibilities may include coding, debugging, testing,
documentation, porting applications and code, distribution of software
and code, evaluating software, assisting users, and building tools.
The specific projects we have summer95 openings for are:
- DOS/Windows development. A wide variety of development projects for
DOS, Windows, Windows NT, OS/2, and possibly Chicago, and Cairo,
primarily focused on TCP/IP networking and Novell NetWare.
- Macintosh development. Various development projects to improve
existing MacTCP-based applications and port additional network services
to the Mac.
- Athena Unix bug fixes. Fix various bugs in Athena Unix software.
- Kerberos version 5 work on all platforms. This will include work on
clients and servers.
- Looking for people with strong interests in unit testing, QA, source
code management.
- Projects involving the libraries of the future initiative.
- There are three openings in network operations. The tasks include
development of management services and applications as well as
opertational tasks.
