Can you use a background thread for the calculations?

Depends. I think the upgraded applets are worth the price, as is new
driver support, a couple of bug fixes, and some minor speed
improvements. Are you happy as a clam running 2.11? Do you have
drivers installed for all your hardware, and does OS/2 never crash on
you? If "yes, yes, yes" then it's a hard call.

Personally, I find myself using perl more and more, but I like to do
as much as possible with REXX, because many OS/2 apps use REXX as
their scripting language (like Mesa/2, Lotus apps, etc.). There was a
thick book on REXX given away at the last meeting... What was the
title? Anyone remember? Who won it? Can you give us a minireview?
