* NEXT MEETING
The next meeting of the MIT OS/2 USERS GROUP will be Thursday, March 16,
at 5pm in MIT room 2-105. Wendell Ying, Program Manager, Application
Development, from IBM Toronto (home of CSet++ and the Workframe
products) will be giving a presentation on Everything You Need to Know
about Application Development for OS/2. More details to follow.
The April 20, and May 18 meetings are still looking for topics. Email
me with ideas. The June meeting has been cancelled. We will try to get
someone spiffy from OS/2 World for the July 20 meeting.
* ATHENA/2
In other news, Chris Shabsin has announced a beta test version of
Athena/2, software that provides some MITnet functionality for OS/2
workstations. Specifically, it contains the Kerberos DLL, KRBV4OS2.DLL,
the Hesiod DLL, HESIOD.DLL, basic utilities in conjunction with these
libraries (kinit, klist, kdestroy, and hesinfo) and Kerberized line
printer clients - lpr and lpq. Contact shabby@mit.edu for more info.
* OS/2 WORLD
OS/2 World is coming to the Hynes Convention Center in Boston, this
summer, July 18-21. David Barnes will be presenting there on Thursday
around noon. Plan to take that week off from work. See you there!
* WARP FIXPAK
The Warp (non-fullpack) fixpack is out and says it fixes 50 apars. From
what I've heard, it's supposed to bring non-fullpack users to the same
service level that's in the fullpack. Ftp it from ftp.pcco.ibm.com as
pub/corrective_service/wfp_05.zip; you'll also need warpbdsk.1dk and
warpbdsk.2dk (the boot-to-install-service diskettes) from the same
directory, and pub/os2_util/ldf.com for loaddskf, to make diskettes from
the downloaded disk image files. The fixpack takes 3 diskettes. (It's
3,391,942 bytes as a zip file.)
Someone in the user group was complaining about this error. It looks
like it has been fixed. (Could you contact me to let me know that you
got this message? I can't remember your name to email you directly.)
