Several weeks ago I complained that I couldn't get my
communications program to see the modem. Several people said I
should check the com ports, but it turned out to be even more
sinister.
Step 1: The Satisfaxion board doesn't actually do anything until
software is installed onto the board (it has its own processor
and memory, which is why it can work independently from the CPU).
Step 2: Create a DOS batch file which loads the fax software
driver (not necessary for modem work, but what the heck), and exits.
Step 3: Change the setup such that the board configuration
software (loaded under CONFIG.SYS when booting DOS), is loaded
via the device config section of the setup area for that batch
file.
Step 4: Place the batch file in the startup group.
Step 5: Reboot and forget about the problem.
Now all I have to do is get the DOS fax software to work using the
WIN/OS-2 session or Windows full screen... FaxWorks doesn't
recognize the Satisfaxion board!

On his first day as a bus driver, Maxey Eckstein handed in
receipts of $65. The next day his take was $67. The third day's
income was $62. But on the fourth day, Eckstein emptied no less than
$283 on the desk before the cashier.
"Eckstein!" exclaimed the cashier. "This is fantastic. That
route never brought in money like this! What happened?"
"Well, after three days on that cockamamie route, I figured
business would never improve, so I drove over to Fourteenth Street and
worked there. I tell you, that street is a gold mine!"
