Well, the problem you're having is because netscape is trying to display the
file on the screen instead of saving it to a file. What you should do is use
the "save next link as" option, using shift-click on that url to be able ot
save it instead of displaying it.
The only difference between http: and ftp: is the network protocol used to
retrieve the file, it should theoretically have nothing to do with the display
format used, although http: can theoretically give more information on how to
show the information locally, I think.
