==Quick recap:
I'm trying to repartition a hard drive and reinstall OS/2
2.1 as my preparation for OS/2 Warp. I have not yet made any attempt to
install Warp or any of its pieces.
I have a 240 MB IDE drive:
42 MB FAT primary (MS-DOS 5.0)
42 MB FAT logical (DOS compilers)
the rest FAT logical (DOS programs)
Boot Manager
I also have a 340 MB SCSI drive:
It was one HPFS logical (OS/2 2.1)
I want it to be
70 MB FAT logical (OS/2 2.1)
50 MB FAT logical (OS/2 Warp)
the rest FAT? logical (OS/2 programs)
My attempts to install OS/2 on the 70MB partition on the SCSI drive
fail (when the installation boots to configure the system after doing a
minimal installation, all I see are two error messages, SYS02025 and
SYS02027). Same results whether I install using CD-ROM or just floppies.
==End of recap
I received two suggestions to delete, then reinstall the Boot Manager. I
followed the advice, but saw no effect.
I decided to recreate my setup that was working until this weekend. So I
used my SCSI adaptor's BIOS to reformat my SCSI drive. Then I cranked
up the installation, partitioned the SCSI drive as one HPFS logical
drive, and tried to install OS/2 on the new partition; this time I was
greeted with a message about an internal error. So I tried to install
from floppy, and SUCCEEDED !!!??!! Of, course, the point of this
exercise was to partition my hard drive, so I felt justified ignoring my
success and trying again: crank up the floppy installation, partition the
SCSI drive as above, and try to install OS/2, only to see the error
messages again.
Curiouser and curiouser.
I'm less desperate; at least I know I can get OS/2 up and running again.
