Right now, one excellent answer to "Why not Unix/X" is that you cannot
buy any flavor of Unix for a reasonable price; the best I've heard is
around $1000 or so. OS/2 lists for $195, and it is sure to sell for
much less than that via mail order.
(Of course, there are at least two free versions of Unix currently in
the works (Linux and GNU). Those will not be a reasonable alternative
to OS/2 until they can be used by someone who doesn't know how to run
'make', however, and that won't be for a while.)
