is there *any* way to make this thread die now? it seems that all of
the available positions have been staked out and many of the obvious
insults and diatriabes have been slung. we are now moving into
tangential positions, diatribes and insults. that's usually a sign
that the operational content is asymptotically approaching zero.
please, let a poor, overworked thread die.
