The actual root zone is at:
ftp://rs.internic.net/domain/
But if you mean the GTLD zones that used to be part of the root, then:
http://www.verisign-grs.com/tld/
and if you mean just the list of the root servers, then:
"dig . ns"
should give you what you're looking for.
