Theodor Sturgeon gave the keynote address at a science fiction convention
a number of years ago. He gave a glowing overview of the rosy state of
the field, etc etc. Later on during the Q&A, a heckler asked him how
he could say that stuff with a straight face when 90% of the science
fiction being written was total crap.

Sturgeon thought for a few seconds, and agreed: "Yes, 90% of science ficntion
is crap. But then, 90% of everything is crap".
