Older than that, and btw, Karl Kleinpaste did just that, when the
initial Compuserve<-->'Net email link killed OSU's mail due to
"ftp by mail" [ab]use.
Karl wrote 9-track tapes and carried them across town to relieve
the backed-up Telebit Trailblazer link.....
