There may be two unrelated events today. The main fiber outage involves
Worldcom/MFS's (or as UUNET refers to them one of UUNET's carrier providers)
ring between San Jose and San Francisco. This seems to be the one affecting
UUNET, Nasa AMES, Global center and others.
But there are a few other carrier problems today in the San Francisco bay
area which seem to be unrelated so far.
