"Clearly" many companies have found that 'outsourcing dialup adds a
layer of necessary security to the mail server', so instead of just
opening their mail servers to the world, they have found a cost of
doing business that way is a slight inconvenience in the way mail is
sent, either via POP-before-SMTP, or via having the user use their
local dialup's SMTP server.

TANSTAAFL, Dean. You want the cheap convenience of outsourced dialup,
the price is that securing the mail server requires a little effort.
If you don't want that hassle, then you put in your own dialups.

This is not quantum physics, this is simply a cheaper solution not
necessarily being an EASIER solution. You want Cheap and Easy which
doesn't happen.
