Construction job severs phone service for some in Jersey City

JERSEY CITY, N.J. (AP) -- Telephone service for up to 2,000 customers
was cut after construction workers on Wednesday morning severed four
Bell Atlantic cables in a residential area.

The cables that were cut have up to 6,000 access lines, but a majority
of calls may go through other lines, Rodriguez said.
