The ILEC, Claro, is reporting all 24 central offices in Puerto Rico are=20
now operating on generators, and maintaining re-fueling operations.=20
The CO's in the (San Juan?) metro area have voice, data and long distance=
=20
service including to the mainland.=20
The CO's elsewhere in Puerto Rico have only local voice service. The=20
offices are isolated, with no long distance or inter-office data service.=
=20
Although the CO's are operational, substantial outside plant is damaged.=20
Which means most subscribers do not have service. Inter-office facilities=
=20
outside the (San Juan) metro area are damaged, which means people with=20
service in those areas can only make local calls.=20
Wireless sites are still being evaluated. The Puerto Rico Transportation=20
Department is providing road crews to clear/rebuild roads and escort=20
cellular providers repair convoys to remote cell sites.=20
The Puerto Rican government has not re-established communications with=20
officials in the following municipalities: Aibonito, Jayuya, Lajas,=20
Mayaguez, Quebradillas, Rinc=C3=B3n, Sabana Grande, Vieques and Villalba.=
