it seems that pretty much no one (who pays them money, and complains
to them, who does that?) cares? also, supermicro doesn't use something
they built for this, they get an outsourced solution.

From poking around some at my limited set of examplar IPMI-like
things, there are like 3 vendors. (I'm sure there are more, but... it
LOOKS like a very small set is just being sold out as parts to
motherboard manufacturers)
