HSRP comes from Cisco, but Cisco originally decided to not release the =
protocol to the IETF. [Stupid play on their part, but water under the =
bridge.] The IETF, realizing that this was useful technology, designed =
VRRP as a competitor to HSRP. Once that was well on its way to =
standardization, Cisco realized it missed the boat and finally publicly =
documented HSRP.
Please get your facts straight.
