Hello,=0A=C2=A0=0AIn my experience,=0Aall MPLS providers allow their custom=
ers to influence their own BGP route=0Ametrics by sending community values =
to the provider, with the provider=0Aadjusting metrics (such as local prefe=
rence), based on these BGP communities=0A(reference =3D http://www.cisco.co=
m/en/US/tech/tk365/technologies_configuration_example09186a00801475b2.shtml=
).=0A=C2=A0=0AI sent a simple=0Arequest to our Verizon reps, asking for the=
community syntax required to=0Aperform this task on a Verizon MPLS network=
.=C2=A0 I expected a list of acceptable communities in the form of ASN:xxx=
=0A(example:=C2=A0 65000:120 to set local=0Apreference to 120).=0A=C2=A0=0A=
My contacts at=0AVerizon are insisting that this =E2=80=9Cfeature=E2=80=9D =
is not available and will not be=0Aavailable until September 2013!=C2=A0 Fr=
om my=0Aperspective, they are basically telling me that we are not allowed =
to enforce=0Aour own route policy on our own network.=0A=C2=A0=0AIf someone=
from=0AVerizon is able to help, I would appreciate an offline response.=0A=
=C2=A0=0AThank you!=0A=C2=A0=0ABill
